After driving past the short road to Armstrong Woods hundreds of times, we finally turned off the highway and spent a few hours  in the magnificent grove of ancient redwoods. Armed with a picnic lunch and new years resolutions to enjoy more outdoor recreation, we walked the easy trail for about a mile to the picnic area and did some exploring from there.
